THE SATORI
WELLNESS CENTRE
At Project Satori we believe that no victim of sex trafficking should be turned away from vital mental health services simply because they are unable to pay for them. This is why, with your help, we are setting up the Satori Wellness Center, a dedicated clinic focusing on providing victims of sex trafficking, and their families, the mental health care that they need, without concern for their financial circumstances.
The exploitation, abuse and physical and psychological violence suffered by victims of human trafficking often has a long-term and drastic effect on their mental health.
This kind of extreme trauma can result in conditions such as severe depression and anxiety, PTSD, personality disorders and even suicidality. This can have destructive effect on victims’ relationships, their job and housing prospects, and keeps them vulnerable to the continuous cycle of exploitation and violence.
Human trafficking overwhelmingly affects the most vulnerable people in society, from countries all over the world. Unfortunately, this usually means that people who have had to endure such traumas do not have the financial means to access the mental health support that they need.
The Satori Wellness Center will be set up in Los Angeles with an aim of providing different types of therapy – including individual counselling, group therapy, art therapy and, when necessary, psychiatric care – to victims of sex trafficking and their families. The clinic will be a place of healing and creativity – a space where survivors can express themselves through therapy and art. In order to do this, we desperately need your help to raise the funds to open this much needed center. Your money will go towards, securing and renovating a premises, purchasing furniture and office equipment, hiring full-time qualified and experienced clinicians and a small team to run the clinic.
Every donation, no matter how small, can have a big impact in ensuring that we can open our clinic to those who need it most and help them to begin rebuilding their lives.
