S/

HE

Project Satori is working on a mental health treatment protocol called S/HE, which stands for: Stability. Healing. Empowerment. S/HE will provide human trafficking survivors a solid path to long-term psychological healing and empowerment, and rescue organizations with an easily implementable, globally sustainable mental health program, that can be easily integrated into existing program structures. It is our fervent hope and belief that S/HE will be a very important step towards reducing global recidivism rates, and ultimately making psychological healing and empowerment a reality for human trafficking survivors all over the world. Please revisit our website for updates on the availability of the S/HE mental health program.

WELCOME TO PROJECT SATORI

Satori /səˈtɔːrɪ/ n. the state of sudden indescribable intuitive enlightenment.
Project Satori is a small but growing nonprofit entity (under a 501C3 status) started in 2008, seeking to provide comprehensive mental health treatment services to sex trafficking survivors and their families in and around Los Angeles.
Because trafficking feeds and perpetuates multiple abuses against women and children our scope of services will include culturally sensitive care for victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual molestation and various forms of cultural violence.

OUR CALIFORNIA

DREAM.

Every year thousands of men, women and children – usually from some of the world’s most vulnerable communities – are trafficked into the United States. With Los Angeles’ size, proximity to a border and the diversity of its population, it serves as a primary port for traffickers to bring people into the country. Once rescued, survivors can find that mental health support is not always easily accessible. The options offered to them are often short-term, too expensive and not comprehensive enough in scope or specialization for effective treatment. Project Satori aims to make long-term, non-discriminatory and culturally sensitive mental health support available to survivors who need it, whether they are able to pay for it or not.

Culturally Sensitive Care

Sex trafficking feeds and perpetuates multiple abuses against women and children. Because of this, our scope of services includes culturally sensitive care for the victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual molestation, as well as all forms of cultural violence.

Mental Health Advocacy

We want to provide advocacy and prevention work to raise awareness about sex trafficking. We also wish to help to inform, and empower vulnerable communities so that together we can keep women and children safe.

Clinical Training

We wish to create a breadth of clinical training services that will help prepare psychological interns and practicing professionals for working with survivors of sex trafficking.

Dedicated Facility

Dedicated Facility We are planning to open a new facility that will provide individual, group and art therapy services, psychological assessment, and all other necessary psychiatric support for the survivors of sex trafficking and their families.

Project Satori offers comprehensive, long-term mental health treatment services and support to sex trafficking survivors and their families, in and around Los Angeles.
